Strokes Gained, explained
Each shot is compared with what a player of your handicap would do from that distance and lie. The result is a figure per area, long game, approach and putting, that says where you gain and where you lose. It works from the card, and in more detail if you score shot by shot.
Dispersion per club on the map
Every shot you enter with the GPS lands on the satellite image of the hole. You see your real driving distance, your miss pattern (left, right, short) and the dispersion ellipse of each club.
Handicap history and projection
The chart of your official handicap by season, what it comes out to today and how it would change with the round you just scored.

What it does not do yet
- Insights compare with published references per handicap band (Shot Scope and Golfshake), not with a base of Badgie players; the approach has no public reference.
- No plays-like distances (wind, elevation) and no club recommendation.
Frequently asked questions
- What is Strokes Gained?
- A way to measure each shot against a reference: how many strokes a player of your handicap would need from there. If you need fewer, you gain; if more, you lose. Added up per area, it says where the problem is.
- Do I need to score shot by shot?
- Not for the basics: with the card (strokes and putts per hole) you already get Strokes Gained per area. Scoring shot by shot with the GPS, the measure is finer and dispersion per club appears.
- Does it compare with other players?
- Yes. Insights compare eight categories (scoring, fairways, greens, putts, scrambling, penalties…) with golfers of your handicap band, using published references, and point to your biggest leak in strokes per round. Morris explains it and suggests a drill. It is free.
- Are the stats free?
- Yes, all of them: fairways, greens, putts, Strokes Gained, dispersion and handicap history. Pro only lifts the limit on Morris.
