How to create football call-ups in Badgie
Choose who plays in each match, set the meeting time and publish the call-up: players and families get the notification in the Badgie app, and the reason a player was left out is only visible to the coaching staff.

Quick answer
In Badgie, call-ups are made from the club's web dashboard (CANTERA › Call-ups) or from the coach app: you mark each squad player as Called up or Not called up, set the meeting time and place, and publish. When you publish, each player and their family get a push notification and a bell alert in the Badgie app, and they see the list of players called up; the reason someone was left out is only visible to the coaching staff. Call-ups are not sent by WhatsApp or email.

Where to find it
- Web: CANTERA › Call-ups (/dashboard/football/convocatorias): the match board with the status of each call-up.
- Coach app: the Weekend matches card on the home screen, the Your matches screen and the match screen, Call up tab.
- Player and family app: the notification, the Call-up card on the home screen and the match in the calendar.
Step by step
The board
The board shows the matches for This weekend, 7 days or 14 days, with the columns Time, Team, Match, Call-up, With app and Coach, plus a summary: Not started, Draft, Published and Changes not yet sent. On the right you can filter by team and edit the Message to players not called up, the club's default text (300 characters max) that each call-up can change.
Calling up a match
- Open the match from the board (in the app, from Weekend matches or Your matches).
- In the players tab, decide on every squad player: Called up or Not called up. Call up everyone marks the whole squad. You can't publish while anyone is still undecided.
- Optionally, add a reason for each player left out: Injured, Suspended, With another team, Rest, Performance, Strategy or Other. Only staff see it.
- With Player from another squad you bring in someone from another age group in the club; they see the match in their calendar only while they remain called up.
- In Meeting and messages, set the meeting time and place, the note for the players called up, and review the message for those not called up. The opponent, day, time and pitch are edited in the match details.
- Save keeps the call-up as a draft: no player sees it. Publish (N) sends it.
The published call-up
When you open a match with a published call-up you see its status and date, the team's coaching staff (with the Primary coach), the published version and who published it, and the Called up, Not called up and Meeting and messages tabs, with the Versions history below. At the bottom, the count («16 called up · 0 not called up · 0 undecided») and the Edit call-up button. The page itself reminds you: call-up changes go out when you press «Publish changes»; match changes, when you save them.

Checking that it arrived
Each player shows the notification status: Read, Sent, No app or Not sent. The With app column on the board tells you how many called-up players have the app: anyone without it has to be told some other way.
Changing a call-up that's already published
- Press Edit call-up and make your changes.
- Publish changes opens a window asking who to notify: Only those affected (the default) or The whole team. Save without notifying saves without sending anything, and Discard throws away the edits.
- Until you publish, players keep seeing the previous version. The board shows Changes not yet sent when something has been saved but not published, or when the time, pitch, meeting point or list differ from what was announced.
Each publication is stored in Versions (v1, v2…) with who published it, when, and who was notified: called up, not called up, removed and updated, and how many notifications were not delivered.
What players and families see
- A player called up receives «You're in the squad» with the day, time and meeting point.
- A player not called up receives «Call-up published» with the club's encouraging message, never the reason.
- In the app, the Call-up card says «You're in the squad» or «Not called up this time», with the Called up (N) list, the meeting point and when it was last updated.

- When changes are published, anyone added receives «You're in the squad»; anyone removed gets a notice that they're not on the list this time; and if the time, pitch, meeting point or note change, the players called up receive «Call-up updated». Changing only a reason or the encouraging message notifies no one.
- Each match appears in the family's calendar and moves automatically if the time changes.
If the club has internal chat switched on, publishing opens a match thread in Messages with the players called up, the coaching staff and the club; players not called up are not included. Players can only reply if the club enables it in the internal chat settings.
By format
- 7-a-side, 8-a-side and 11-a-side are called up the same way. You decide how many players to call up; the paper match sheet prints up to 24 rows.
- For tournaments and friendlies the federation doesn't publish, create the match with New match («Create and call up»), giving the team, type, opponent, day and time, home or away, and pitch.
With the AI agent
The agent uses `get_match_callups` to read the call-ups for the weekend, the week or the fortnight (by team if you ask): what's published, what's still a draft or not started, and what has changes not yet sent. It doesn't call up or publish, and it never gives out the starting eleven or the formation.
Frequently asked questions
Can the call-up be sent by WhatsApp or email?
No. Call-ups are communicated only inside the Badgie app, by push notification and the bell. To know who to contact some other way, the board shows how many called-up players have the app.
Will the family see why their child wasn't called up?
No. The reason is for the coaching staff only and doesn't appear in notifications, in the chat or in any match document. The family sees the club's encouraging message.
Does not being called up count as an absence?
No. The player stays on the match list as a neutral absence («Available but not called up» or «Other team») and their attendance percentage doesn't drop. It never overwrites a mark made by hand.
Who can make call-ups?
On the web, the owner and collaborators with access to the Cantera, for any team. In the app, each coach for the teams whose coaching staff they belong to or whose training sessions they're assigned.
How do I call up a match that isn't in the federation calendar?
Create it with New match from Call-ups or from the app, then call it up like any other.
